How the MLM referral link works

1. Every member gets a link and a replicated website: the company's page with the member's name, photo and contact details, at an address only they share.
2. The click is recorded with the member's id. If the visitor leaves and comes back later, the link is still remembered for the period you set, so the referral is not lost.
3. Registration or purchase through the link places the new member under the referrer in the genealogy, or records the customer as the referrer's customer.
4. The commission is calculated by the commission module: a fixed amount, a percentage of the sale, a credit, or the plan's team bonuses if the program has levels.
5. Payout goes to the member's e-wallet and from there to a bank account or payment gateway on the schedule you choose, with payout tracking for both sides.

Designing an MLM referral program

Referral programs of software companies, online tools and shops follow a pattern that works for MLM companies too, and the software supports each piece as a setting:

• Reward for the referrer: a commission on the first purchase, a recurring commission for as long as the referred customer pays, or a credit on the referrer's own account.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a referral program and an MLM referral program? A referral program pays the referrer on the people they bring; an MLM referral program also pays on the people those people bring, by a compensation plan. In the software the difference is the number of levels you switch on.

Can I pay recurring commissions? Yes. On subscriptions and repeat orders the referrer earns with every payment of the referred customer, for as long as you set.

Can a referral link be tracked on social media? Yes. Each click carries the member's id whichever site it comes from, and a member can have one link per channel.
